Brilliant Color in a Low Maintenance Shrub
From the first new growth, spring flowering, and continuing through summer Spiraea puts on a spectacular display of color in the landscape. The compact, neatly mounded habit of Spiraea offers stunning foliage and loads of large colorful spring flowers. The Double Play™ Series Spiraea range in size from 1-3 feet tall with purple or pink spring blooms that will repeat in summer if dead-headed. Snow Storm™ and Golden Glitter™ are 3-4 feet tall and produce white spring flowers.
Deer resistant Spiraea are adaptable, easy care shrubs that require little or no pruning but may be shaped in mid-summer after flowering if desired. Most Spiraea are hardy in zones 4-9 and should be fertilized in early spring with a slow release fertilizer made for trees and shrubs. Follow label instructions for rate of application. Use Spiraea as a specimen plant, in the perennial border, or plant in mass for a vibrant display of color.
