Hops are generally known for their production of beer but Humulus is grown as an ornamental vine that provides a full season of great color with its yellow-green foliage. Hardy in zones 5-8, Humulus requires a full sun to part shade exposure. Reaching heights of 5-12 feet tall and 2 feet in width the upright climbing habit of Humulus is best displayed on a trellis for maximum vertical interest. Cut Ornamental Hops down in late fall after the leaves have dropped.
