(Summer Sweet) This North American native,Vanilla Spice™ Clethra is a standout plant with attractive glossy, dark green leaves and extra large flowers. Vanilla Spice™ is a strong growing and a healthy shrub. The individual flowers are roughly the size of a dime, about twice the size of a typical Clethra. It has large spikes that slowly open to loads of fragrant, pure white flowers in the late summer. There are few plants that offer such wonderful fragrance in the late summer,Vanilla Spice™ Clethra being one of them. Butterflies and hummingbirds adore this plant. Excellent flowering shrub for landscapes, use it in perennial or shrub borders, and masses or groupings. Deer Resistant. Glad I took a Chance

I needed to replace some shrubs and wanted a summer flower. Most of the local nurseries don't get them in stock till a little later in the season. (Zone 4 Upstate NY) I didn't want to wait so I decided to see what I could get online. I was nervous to try this but I just received my 3 Vanilla Spice and I am thrilled with their condition. I purchased the larger size. The packaging was incredible. No damage at all. My poor shrubs were delivered in 95 degree heat and sat in the box on my porch for 7 hours yet they were fine. I gave them a good drink and let them sit overnight before planting. They are larger than I expected and look great in my shrub border. I have not used Clethra before but I think they are the perfect choice for where I planted them.
