Description

(Elderberry) Lemon Lace™ Sambucus racemosa is a gorgeous, compact specimen plant with deeply dissected chartreuse green-yellow foliage. The leaves of Lemon Lace™ Elderberry emerge with reddish tinges but then mature to a bright yellow. In the spring white flowers bloom and eventually grow into bright red fruits. This shrub has a mounded growth habit and looks beautiful in a container or in the landscape. Lemon Lace™ Elderberry is deer-resistant, so it makes an excellent choice if deer pressure is a problem where you garden.

Plant Lemon Lace™ in full sun to partial shade. (Some shade is recommended, especially, in southern climates.) The shrubs are hardy in zones 3-7 and grow to a height and spread of 3-5 feet. Prune after flowering to maintain shape, if necessary, but these shrubs are most beautiful if allowed to grow according to their natural form. Elderberries fare best in moist to wet soils.
