(Clematis) 'Diamond Ball' is an absolute must-have for any serious clematis collector or garden aficionado. Its double flowers look almost like peony blossoms growing on a vine. This new introduction from Proven Winners® is a compact grower, reaching a maximum of five feet. (If you have better luck growing clematis in containers than in the ground, this selection is a good choice for you due to its relatively smaller size.) Spectacular double white to lavender blooms cover the plant from June through August. ‘Diamond Ball’ is a Clematis in the pruning group “2” and flowers on the previous-season’s growth in the spring and on new growth in the late summer.

Clematis grow well in full sun to partial shade. They need cool shade over the roots of the plant, but the tops thrive with bright light. They benefit from mulch around the roots. (Keep the mulch away from the stems.) You can grow ‘Diamond Ball’ in zones 4-9. They require moderately moist to moist soil and are deer- and rabbit-resistant.

‘Diamond Ball’ Clematis is a spectacular variety that is absolutely guaranteed to turn the heads of your visitors. Plant it in a prominent place—it’s a true specimen plant.
