The fragrant colorful blooms of Buddleia brighten up the landscape from mid-summer to fall providing a wildlife sanctuary for butterflies and hummingbirds. Deer resistant, Butterfly Bushes require full sun exposure and may be fertilized in early spring with a slow release fertilizer made for trees and shrubs. Buddleia blooms on new wood and will bloom best if pruned in early spring to about one foot in heigth.
English Butterfly™ Buddleia are more compact than older varieties reaching 4’ to 5’ tall, boast extra large flower panicles and require removal of spent blooms to encourage reblooming. The Lo & Behold® series Buddleia are miniature with a non-invasive mounded habit of 2’ to 3’ tall. Lo & Behold® are continuous bloomers that require no pruning or deadheading. Use Buddleia for landscapes, groundcovers, perennial gardens, or containers.
