Caryopteris - Lil’ Miss Sunshine™ Bluebeard

(Bluebeard) Lil’ Miss Sunshine™ is a cross between Petit Bleu™ and Sunshine Blue® that delivers the best attributes of both. This lovely plant has sunny yellow foliage that glows all season long. This beauty produces an abundance of blue flowers in later summer. The rich blue flowers on Lil’ Miss Sunshine™ are appealing, as there are few options for blue color in the landscape. The growing habit is neat and compact making it a great container plant and garden specimen. Lil’ Miss Sunshine™ is a useful plant for drier conditions. Use this shrub in borders, and mass plantings for sunny areas. Although hardy in Zone 5, northern gardeners may experience some winter die back. As the blooms are produced by new growth, this will not affect summer flowering. This plant requires very little care. Prune to shape in late spring, pruning down to where the new growth is sprouting. Fertilize with a controlled release fertilizer in spring. Caryopteris is a valuable plant for the garden, providing late season blooms when many other plants have passed their prime.
